![]() The 50th anniversary conference of the IUHPE Paris, France, July 15-20, 2001 The International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) is pleased to invite you to Paris, France on July 15-20, 2001 for the XVIIth World Conference on Health Promotion and Health Education. This World Conference, celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the IUHPE, provides a unique opportunity to meet with colleagues from all over the world to share knowledge and experiences and to debate contemporary health issues. As the first global conference in its field in the 21st century there is a particular need for this conference to recognize that "health for all" remains a worthwhile but increasingly challenging goal. The XVIIth World Conference intends to take up this challenge by adopting a theme and addressing issues that will point the way to finding solution to some of the world's most pressing health problems. Globalization, the dislocation and marginalization of many people and increasing environmental degradation have called on health promotors and health educators to develop contemporary means of dealing with the resulting health problems. "Investing for health" has rapidly become a way of expressing an approach to addressing the private and public policies that influence the social, economic and environmental determinants of health.
The beginning of the new century is the time to develop the required knowledge and skills, outline options and recommend action if we are serious about investing for health.
